Amavasya In July 2024. Amavasya is new moon day in hindu calendar. Amavasya, or ‘no moon’, occurs once every month, when moon in its transit, while crossing the house where sun is located in transit gets completely covered by the sun, and therefore remains unseen in night sky, which is why it is called ‘no moon’.
There are 12 months in a year and in each month there is an amavasya tithi, according to which there are a total of 12 amavasyas. The amavasya of august 2024 was observed on august 4, from 03:50 pm on august 3 to 04:42 pm on august 4.
